What Happened at the Festival in 2008?

The Northwest Renaissance Festival's 14th Season began June 21th and ended July 20st, 2008.

The year was 1522....

Our Good King Henry was accompanied by Queen Catherine and his sister Mary and her husband the Duke of Sufffolk on a merry day of fun.  Cardinal Wolsey was back and even more powerful in "affairs of state."  Sir Lazloe's privateers were  recruiting with the Pirate Games of Skill.  The Gypsies thrilled the crowds with the Gypsy Horse Exhibition and  their Gypsy Camp Show.  And yes, there was a Mud Show!

What Happened at the Festival in 2007?

2007 Festival Season is over but this is what you missed.

(updated 9/18/07)

Our biggest and best opening  started off with a black powder salute that ranged from pistol to a cannon!  Yet all was not well in the town of Pleasance...King Henry VIII and his Queen, Catherine of Aragon are late to the festivities and rumors have surfaced that a plot against them is brewing.  Cardinal Wolsey takes charge while Sir Mathias is investigating the treachery.  However, the festival must go on!

The gypsies challenged the knights to games on horseback, the peasants of Pleasance performed perfectly, Herman the Ogre was interrogated and allowed to wander the town, the Knowne Worlde Championships ended with an unbelievable twist, whips wreathed in fire cracked menacingly, the game of battle chess kept everyone on the edge of their seats, the Commedia dell'Arte kept everyone in stitches, animals emerged from the forest and delighted us with stories, minstrels kept our ears entertained throughout the day and despite the missing Royalty, lances shattered on armor and shield which led to the treasonous plot being revealed.
